I'm one of the authors of this volume with my project Citizen Home Doppio.
As a tribute to Umberto Eco and Luigi Ghirri we have artistically revisited “Italy in miniature” on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of its inauguration. This volume collects eight contemporary gazes that share different post-photographic approaches.The Italia in Miniatura theme park was founded by Ivo Rambaldi in 1970 with the aim of bringing together a selection of models that summarize the monumental, architectural andItalian landscape. Beyond the tourist interest, this type of attractions confront us with that magnificent case study that Umberto Eco called "strategies of illusion".

Mattia Gabellini's project unfolds outside the park's paths. His research starts with You-Mini, a paid service between 2011 and 2013 - offered by Italia in Miniatura to tourists, which consisted of making a 3D photographic scan of the interested tourist with the aim of making two miniature resin copies of the person, one of which was packaged and sent to the home of the person concerned, and the other positioned in the park (for three years), at the point where the same reproduced subject decided he wanted to be inserted.
Gabellini rummaged through the archive of this old documentation made up of maps, privacy releases and a large amount of miniatures now thrown into boxes ready to be thrown away and he redeemed, giving him an activity again. A contemporary bertillonage on miniature reproductions. Citizen Home Doppio focuses on reflection on the material aspects of the identity of individuals.
